Band Aids of the future
I just used the Ethical Consumer Guide to find out which band aids I should be procuring for the Igloo and was horrified to learn that there are NO ethical choices when it comes to band aids. Every company that produces bandaids in Australia uses animal testing!! http://www.ethical.org.au/guide/search/
I did some research (surely theres an ethical choice out there) but no, you cannot ethically buy bandaids. So here’s the next best thing: home made band aids

Safe Sunscreen Guide summer 2011-12
Nanotechnology Project - Friends of the Earth Australia’s “new season summer 2011-2012 Safe Sunscreen Guide gives the Australian public information to make an informed choice and to avoid high risk nano-sunscreens. The guide lists a range of non-nano, SPF 30+ sunscreens. It also includes secondary sunscreens (moisturisers, anti-ageing creams and mineral foundations).”

Why We Need A Sunscreen Safety Patrol
“Used in sunscreens for their novel properties (greater transparency), there are growing concerns that nano-ingredients could pose novel risks. Research has shown that nanoparticles can accelerate the production of free radicals. In 2008 the research leader of the CSIRO nano safety program warned that in a worst case scenario nano-sunscreens could increase the risk of cancer.”

Culture Jammers
Culture jamming is a form of activism that involves subversively altering media or advertising messages, usually to cast a critical spotlight on the activities of governments, corporations or individuals. It can take place in physical spaces or virtual realms: some activists amend billboards, others hijack websites.
The opening forum on Sunday 12th February, The Art and Politics of Culture Jamming, presents an impressive line-up of guest speakers who will discuss the intentions, tactics, incidents, aesthetics and recent history of culture jamming in Sydney.

The EcoSwitch® – an easy way to save money and the environment
“A huge amount of electricity is wasted in homes and businesses because our electrical appliances and equipment are designed to draw power 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every single week of the year. A significant amount of energy and money is wasted by the standby energy that is used when our appliances are still turned on, but in idle mode.
The EcoSwitch® eliminates the standby energy used by our appliances with one flick of a switch!”
