The practitioner of Earth yoga seeks to know this body upon and within which we live as we seek to know our own bodies. So the practice of Earth yoga might best begin with that portion of Earth closest to you, your bioregion or watershed. How many of us know, for example, where our water comes from and where our water, after we’ve used it, goes? How many of us know the contours of the body we live on? Yoga teaches us, among other things, to care for our bodies as sacred, inside and out. As we come to know the body of Gaia as intimately as we know our own, we discover places that have been wounded, polluted, poisoned and that need to be restored and healed. This is karma yoga, the yoga of work and action…”

An extraordinary event took place in Washington, D.C. this past weekend.
Over 10,000 young people came together for Power Shift 2011 — a 3-day conference to train, organize, and mobilize for climate action in the United States. The US has been an obstacle to climate action for years, so seeing the power and energy of the young people together was one of the most hopeful moments for the climate movement in quite some time.
It was an amazing event: there were inspiring talks from Van Jones and Al Gore, workshops on local solutions, and even a mass march against big polluters in the streets of Washington DC.
But there is one highlight from the weekend you truly need to see: the speech from Bill McKibben, which energized a crowd 10,000 people-strong. Watch the video of this incredible talk:

Do We Want To raise Our Consciousness? From what I am reading and listening to we seem to be at a pivotal point in our evolution. The scientists are saying it, the “spiritual gurus” are saying it, my friends are saying it and in case we haven’t noticed it, THE PLANET IS SAYING IT!
A month ago, as news-desks readied their stories of a protest against climate action, we joined with our friends in the climate movement to hold our first rally in support of a price on pollution. That night, the news told the story of 250 angry voices against a price on pollution being dwarfed by 8,000 peaceful Australians who gathered down the street in favour of real climate action.
This action spurred rallies across the country in the weeks that followed.
Every time the climate deniers have tried to rewrite the story about what the community actually thinks about climate change, we have been there, with thousands of others, to prove them wrong.

In harmony with the Tao,
the sky is clear and spacious,
the earth is solid and full,
all creatures flourish together,
content with the way they are,
endlessly repeating themselves,
endlessly renewed.
When man interferes with the Tao,
the sky becomes filthy,
the earth becomes depleted,
the equilibrium crumbles,
creatures become extinct.
The Master views the parts with compassion,
because he understands the whole.
His constant practice is humility.
He doesn’t glitter like a jewel
but lets himself be shaped by the Tao,
as rugged and common as stone.
‘…The fact is that everywhere people are making choices to directly harm others by polluting the environment. The psychologisation of environmental pollution serves as a smokescreen for the abuse and neglect of the natural world. Social, cultural and psychological factors all involve the choices of individual people. In this case the choice of each of us to continue to consume and to pollute.
It is a choice to abdicate responsibility. Many of us choose to deny unpleasant truths and this is an action — not simply a reaction…’
