CURB, sustainable advertising for the National Trust
I’m torn on this one. On the one hand there’s real creativity and a sensibility here that goes beyond the usual eco friendly paper stocks, inks or building materials of some vendors who puff their green chest out in the adverting space. HOWEVER - It’s still advertising and while CURB do do some good work for orgs that are making a worthwhile contribution to society and the planet (Oxfam, National Trust, Cancer Research) the vast bulk of their work is promoting consumption culture.
If a brand uses the eco-ness of their advertising as a point of difference (and i guess this is what CURB are doing in effect themselves and providing for their clients) then im afraid this is really a form of quite literal greenwashing (see there cleaning graffitti technique).
So while i love this piece they did for National Trust - we really need clever people like those at CURB to stop selling stuff and start selling change.
