Just launched: The Global Mail is a philanthropically funded, not-for-profit news and features website. Our mission is to deliver original, fearless, independent journalism.

We will strive to inform, provoke, expose — and entertain. Our audience is our only agenda. We have no advertisers to answer to, nor shareholders who seek to profit. And our generous philanthropic benefactor has no interest in what journalism we produce. What The Global Mail produces will be the evidence of that.

Great to have another indie media outlet in Oz that is unlikely to be gobbled up by Gina Rinehardt.

A working democracy needs a healthy and diverse media landscape. That much we all agree on. What we dont seem to be able to do is fund them to stay in business! 

Well now’s our chance to change that - we can all fund one of the best indie news outlets around - New Matilda - by giving as little as $50 through crowd fund site FundBreak. They need another $100k in just 21 days so my challenge to you is to put your money where your eyes are and get two people you know to do the same.

As AHA president John Thorpe (aka the bad guy in the Raise The Bar cmpaign) said “Demcracy doesnt come cheap.”
